Events Analysis

Events Analysis is a method of studying the events of an incident using frame by frame analysis. To the untrained eye, the movements or actions of an individual can be very mis-leading especially when one presumes that what they see is technically correct. Any Forensic CCTV Expert who is worth their salt will always advise you to seek help when served with DVD compilations.

Issues such as halation, depth of view and Infra Red (IR) technology can create a completely different series of events.

Understanding the effects of time lapsed imagery in comparison to a real time rate can be the difference between  a punch or kick being delivered without being visually identified or the mis-interpretation of a movement that in actual fact could just be benign.

We pride ourselves in taking the time to assess and review the imagery in detail so that your client gets the best evidence.

Clothing & footwear analysis

The analysis of clothing and footwear of a Questioned Subject can lead to mis-interpretation depending on the format and quality of the Imagery supplied or recorded.

The use of Infra Red (IR) technology can visually change the colour and or tone of a garment as a result of its chemical construction and how it reacts to the IR light.

When tracking or observing the actions of a Subject it is important to maintain an accurate identification of the Subject throughout based on how they appear, so that could mean they pass through multiple camera systems and formats.

All too often we see assessments and descriptions being made based on poor image quality and IR formats that fall at the first hurdle when the case arrives at Court - never assume what you are looking at is correct.

Object Analysis

One of the most common issues we are instructed on is the determination of whether an object is a 'gun or a knife' as examples.

Without an understanding of how the image quality/technology effects what we see, it is unsafe to assume,  just because it has a similar shape(s), it is not necessarily what it appears to be.

In conjunction of Events Analysis a robust visual, frame by frame analysis can determine 'objects' in the possession of key individuals which are sometimes missed in the initial investigation.

Of course its not just about assessing weaponry, determining whether someone is using a mobile phone or whether they can be identified with a stolen object for example, the need for a robust frame by frame analysis is paramount.

Vehicle Analysis

The analysis of vehicles, be they four wheel or two wheeled, can be difficult especially when viewing poor quality imagery at night or during the day.

Vehicles and their features  can create artefacts/halation from shiny surfaces and lighting clusters when exposed to sunlight or streetlights which can visually remove detail for comparison.

Modern vehicle manufactures sell products with various 'add-ons' and stylistic features; so whilst a car might look to be the same in actual fact without distinguishing features it is unsafe to assume this. Some manufacturers share vehicle body types (Peugeot Partner vs Citreon Berlingo) so simply stating that they are the same vehicle without considering the possibilities is a classic error.......

Like with any comparison we are advocates of capturing and inspecting any seized vehicle so we can make a more robust comparison.
